Data Centre Operator

We are currently recruiting for a data centre operator in Newport who will be responsible for 1st level Hands & Eyes / Smart Hands support of the client infrastructure and Data Centre services.

Key Responsibilities

Carry out Remote / Smart Hands activities on behalf of customers, 3rd parties / vendors and other client technical teams in line with contractual requirements
Carry out regular visual checks / Amber Light Reporting of client hardware
Inventory Capture & Logistics (ICL) at Data Centre Staff to manage assets, shipping, receiving and other related tasks: Answers telephones within four rings with clarity, inform the caller of the location Media Library and provides his/her name
Alerts the Operations Manager to actual/potential Service problems
Use of Lotus Notes for email and procedural work practice
Conforms to department and procedures and current SLAs/DOUs
Hardware & Portable storage Media Inventory Capture Including manage, tracking, return & disposal of assets, and other asset related tasks
Update / Maintain all Assets on ISM and CMDB
Periodic (usually monthly) checking of a sampling of server serial numbers and/or asset tag numbers for the Asset competency

This position is a 24 hour a day, 7 Days a week, 365 days per year role which will include; working Bank Holidays and providing holiday, sickness cover and cover for other uncovered shifts days, nights & weekends when required. Successful applicants will therefore be working 12 hour shifts on a continental shift rota consisting of 12hr days/12hr nights on 4 week rotation (Shift rotation can be supplied separately).
